Iraqi parliament speaker: Saudi support contributed to the expulsion of ISIS



 King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud met Monday in his office at the Al-Yamama Palace in Riyadh with Iraqi Parliament Speaker Mohammed Rekan al-Halbousi, accompanied by several members of the council.

According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), fraternal relations between the two countries and prospects for bilateral cooperation between the Shura Council and the Iraqi Parliament were reviewed during the reception.


"Saudi Arabia has played a major role in supporting Iraq in its fight against terrorist organizations, especially ISIS," al-Halbousi said after meeting King Salman, adding that "Iraq has passed a difficult stage thanks to the support of Saudi Arabia, which contributed to the expulsion of ISIS from many areas and cities in Iraq."

The reception was attended by Saudi Prince Abdul Aziz bin Saud bin Nayef bin Abdul Aziz, Minister of Interior, Speaker of the Shura Council Sheikh Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Sheikh, Minister of State, Cabinet Member Dr. Assistant Bin Mohammed al-Aiban, and Foreign Minister Adel bin Ahmed al-Jubeir.

Members of parliament Hisham Abdul Malik, Nahla Jabbar, Nayef Makif, Sherwan Mirza, Hussein Majid, Ali Yusuf, Faleh Sari, Ziad al-Janabi and The Republic's Ambassador to the Kingdom, Dr. Qahtan al-Janabi, were also attended by members of the Iraqi side.
