The southernmost village of Gharba Suhail nubian is witnessing a cultural festival in the presence of a number of artists and influencers, with the aim of discovering outstanding talent among the region's children and giving them the opportunity to demonstrate their creative energies.
Located at a sandy foot west of the Nile, The Village was established 100 years ago and is one of the most prominent tourist areas in Aswan province, where it is characterized by the booming colors on the facades of houses and the breeding of crocodiles, and President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi was keen to visit her for months to check on her conditions and meet her parents.
According to festival executive director Daha Mustafa, the Art Narti Art Festival hosts about 1,200 children from the village of West Suhail and surrounding areas from community and government schools and orphanages, as well as people with special needs over a 10-day period, to receive dozens of different art workshops by specialists from across Egypt.
A number of artists, influencers and prominent figures in Nubia were keen to participate in the Art Narti Festival, including Haitham Sayed, winner of the State Children's Literature Award, photographer Jalal Al-Massari, a member of the International Photography Federation, Sahar Jabr, translator of the Harry Potter international series, cartoonist Mohamed Tawfiq, and tour guide Bast Noureddine.
"The art workshops for Nubia children have been well studied and carefully prepared to be suitable for young people aged 5 to 18, including arts such as painting, photography, storytelling and creative writing, through which we seek to develop children's perceptions, rediscover their hidden talents and present their work in a distinctive way," She added.
"We are pleased with the reactions of children and their families about their presence at the festival, their positive comments about the workshops and the sessions that brought them together with 27 artists, as well as to produce good results from the experience by discovering talents that we will support, pass on the expertise needed and continue to give them more opportunities."
Dozens of children gather daily around the tour guide in Sant Noureddine to listen to her workshop on explaining nubia landmarks and aswan's most prominent tourist and archaeological areas.
"I try all the time to explain Egypt's history in a simplified way, to educate the child about the value of our monuments in a way that opens up the prospects for thinking about the history of our ancestors, and I was surprised by the wonderful reception from them and their interaction with the workshop," Basnet told Ar News"
Caring for nubia children and Aswan province is very impressive, and the development of artistic content offered to young people will give them new skills that enrich their creative and intellectual aspect, and I think the results of the events will resonate on a large scale, and I hope to repeat the experience several times."
Haitham Sayed, founder of The Hawadit Cart initiative, agrees on the importance of having this type of artistic and cultural festivals useful to children in Nubia, and told Sky News Arabia that he has responded to the invitation to participate without hesitation or thought "because of his keen interest in putting a smile on the faces of young people in various governorates of Egypt, through his interactive storytelling workshop for years".
"I came to Aswan with dozens of books to distribute to children at the festival. I was more excited when I saw the passion in the eyes of the participants and their desire to learn and enjoy as much as possible, and after the end of the speaking workshop I chose more than one talented child and talked more about how to develop their writing and narrative skills."
"During the experience, I felt the love of Nubia children for painting, music, storytelling and various arts, and I think there should be a lot of cultural and artistic events in the region throughout the year. "They are in constant need of those who nurture their talents and pave the way for their development and dissemination, so I intend to return to West Suhail soon."
