UAE records 3 new cases of monkeypox

 


The UAE Ministry of Health announced Sunday that three new cases of monkeypox have been reported.


The ministry recommended that community members follow all safety and health prevention measures, take preventive measures when traveling and at gatherings and avoid unsafe and unhealthy behaviors, the UAE News Agency (WAM) was quoted as saying.

On May 24th, the UAE Ministry of Health and Community Protection announced the monitoring of the country's first case of monkeypox.

The ministry said in a statement that the case belonged to a 29-year-old woman visiting the west African country who was receiving the necessary medical attention in the country.

The ministry assured members of the community that the state's health authorities are taking all necessary measures, including investigating, examining and following up contacts.

The ministry stressed that, in cooperation with health authorities, it follows an epidemiological monitoring mechanism in accordance with the highest international practices to ensure sustainable efficiency, prevent society from communicable diseases and quickly detect cases, and work to reduce the local spread of all diseases and viruses, including monkeypox.

The ministry called on the public to take information from official sources in the country and not to circulate rumors and misinformation, in addition to the importance of following up on the latest developments and guidance issued by the health authorities.
