East Jerusalem Will Remain Eternal Capital Of Palestine: Palestinian Presidency

Ramallah: The Palestinian presidency confirmed today that East Jerusalem will remain the eternal capital of the State of Palestine as per international legitimacy and international law resolutions.

The Spokesman for the Palestinian Presidency Nabil Abu Rudeineh said in response to statements by Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett regarding Jerusalem, that the only way to achieve stability and lasting peace must pass through fulfilling the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, and primarily the establishment of their independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital, adding that it is not possible to achieve security and stability in the region as long as Israel continues its war on the Palestinian people, their land and their holy sites, acts as a state above the law, and rejects international legitimacy resolutions and the foundations that underpin the peace process.

He also stressed that 'Bennett's statements will not give legitimacy to the occupation of the city of Jerusalem' and that the occupation is about to demise, calling on the international community - especially the US administration - to uphold its responsibilities to cease Israeli violations, and to stop dealing with duplicity.

Naftali Bennett had said before in statements that 'Jerusalem will remain a united city.'
