Japan opens its borders to tourists from 98 countries. After two years of closure

Japan has announced the opening of its borders to tourists from 98 countries and regions, after a two-year closure due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but will maintain some restrictions.

The Japanese Foreign Ministry said in a statement that it will allow tourist groups to enter the country from June 10, but will divide 98 countries and regions into three categories: red, yellow and blue.

The ministry said the division would determine whether tourists could bypass quarantine procedures.

Japan closed its borders throughout the epidemic, preventing even the population from entering it during part of 2020.
