Egypt's position improved on the World Economic Forum's Travel and Tourism Development Index, with 6 positions ahead of the 2021 index, ranking 51st out of 117 countries.
Egypt achieved the second highest improvement in the ranking in the countries followed by the index, while it ranked first in Africa and fifth among the Middle East countries.
The index measures "a range of factors and policies that enable sustainable and flexible development of the travel and tourism sector, and in turn contribute to the country's development," according to the World Economic Forum.
The index takes into account factors including the business environment of tourism companies, price competitiveness, infrastructure, demand engines and environmental sustainability.
Regionally, the UAE ranked 25th on the World Economic Forum list, first in the Middle East, followed by Saudi Arabia, which jumped 10 places to No. 33, Qatar ranked 43rd, followed by Israel, which came in 47th place.
